Hi. Is it fair to say SuperAntiSpyware is more thorough than Malwarebytes Anti-Malware? Would it be safe to use just one of these programs and uninstall the other?

I alternate between the two, but Malwarebytes Anti-Malware never seems to find anything.

Today, I scanned with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware first. No threats detected.
Then I scanned with SuperAntiSpyware. It found 231 infections!

    :confused

No MWB scans for maleware SAS scans for mainly spyware there is a difference between the two.Malewarebytes scans for stuff that other anti spyware/Anti virus does not normally pick up on its own.

^ +1 to what Goldenskull said. I have both SAS and MBAM on demand and both so far never have found anything on my PC for years! *knocking wood* I also have SpywareBlaster.

That is a good thing.Just like me i rarely every see a nasty virus or maleware issue mainly i have it automated.I let my system scan it self while i am at work or sleeping.

I've got the feeling that those 231 *infections* are just tracking cookies?

I all so did a SAS scan and got 43 cookies.

So that is pretty much all SAS scans for.

A good idea would be to read (and possibly pose this question in that forum):

Personally I go with the idea of one paid anti-malware product and use others for passive scanning.

In my case Malwarebytes is my paid solution, and I use SAS, Spybot Search & Destroy and Spywareblaster for passive scans.

I also use WOT and VirusTotal as needed.

My philosophy comes down to a layered defense: Updates& Patches/AV/AM/Firewall and Best Practices, i.e. Safe Surfing, no warez among other things. It has served me well, all my scans for years have been mostly tracking cookies and false positives.

SpywareBlaster doesn't have the ability to scan, it just prevents the below.

Ahhh, yes. I'm sorry, I knew there was a reason I kept them both. Had a brain fart there!

    Me too! :)

Yes, bad choice of wording on my part.

    Thanks everyone!

Correct. But I do list it as passive protection. I could have been clearer... ;)
