    Applications>Internet>Evelution Mail

What mail client doesn't have to be configured???rolleyes

If you happen to be the original kernel_geek with a new name, I'd watch your step.

and if its a ppoe dsl account with the username and password on the pc, then it may still need configuring as well.

Maybe but when ppoe0 or eth0 is established at boot up, most apps should work with it by default.

Not if it wasn't ever setup.

    Mr Peebly,

You will have a icon in the upper right alerting you to any upgrades. Firefox 2.0 is in the Ubuntu repostitories. Let the upgrader process.

Setting up mail is easy, and you will need

    Username
    Password
    pop setting (to receive mail)
    smtp setting (to send mail)

I use gmail myself and it has setup on the webmail pages.

Read the Ubuntu Wiki also for documentation and howto.

From your other thread, "But i can't seem to get the mail or firefox to work for me, i tried to load my isp disc but it will not open it, i'm with talktalk broadband, and use an ADSL USB modem it runs fine on the windows side but just can't get it to work here on ubuntu any help please."

Unless you can find a linux usb setup for that modem, (what dsl modem do you have) you may need to use an ethernet card to connect. The ppoe setup isn't difficult, but we need to find way to connect the usb/maybe ethernet modem to your computer. Hopfuly it has an ethernet port.
