cannot access new nvidia control panel

my system
amd 64bit dualcore4200
motherboard azus a8n sli deluxe
nvdia 6800xt x2 graphics
600gb hard drive
windows xp2 home.

when clicking on the new nvidia control panel icon from the control panel it will not open .i have had to go to . display,settings,advanced,click on card installed, click control panel user interface,and select classic view.when i first puchased this computer the new nvidia control panel was operative.
does anyone have any ideas on this please.

The drivers could have gotten slightly corrupted so it fails to load the Control Panel. A fix for this would to be uninstall the drivers that are installed right now, then go to www.nvidia.com and download the newest drivers and see if that cures your problem.

 

thank you Sqeaner. my present nvdia version for the 6800xt card is 84.2.1
ive looked at the nvidia site and i can't quite understand what number of the new driver i should be upgrading to. perhaps someone could advise me.

i think i now have the correct driver version to be installed nvidia 91.47. i will go ahead unless any of of you out there have had any adverse problems regarding this update. thank you Sqeaner.
