SkyDrive.exe Random BSOD Restarts

Two or three times per week I get a SkyDrive.exe BSOD and I just cannot seem to use the correct search words to find any posts on this forum. I am using WinCrashReport to determine the cause of these random BSOD restarts. Perhaps I should uninstall SkyDrive, reboot the machine, and then reinstall SkyDrive. This problem has been occurring for the past couple of months -- ever since I upgraded from SkyDrive 2011 to SkyDrive 2012. These crashes occur mostly when the system is locked (which is what I do when not using the laptop) and so the system is relatively idle. Anyone suggest a different solution for my ASUS A54C?

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!

    Hello and Welcome to MajorGeeks!

What are you doing with SkyDrive when the crashes occur? I.E. are you working on a document, moving files etc or do you not have anything open in SkyDrive?

I am not using anything. System is "idle". Screen is locked. Of course SkyDrive is evidently doing something. The BSOD has almost always been when I am not using the laptop but if it happens when I am using the system, I am not directly using SkyDrive at that particular time and\or saving anything to SkyDrive.

Please open the control panel and click on "system" then click on "advanced system settings" and authenticate. Then click on the "advanced" tab and choose the "settings" button in the "start-up and recovery" section (the bottom one). There should then be a section in the middle called "system failure". There should be a check box in there called "Automatically restart". Please make sure that is not checked.

Then next time the BSOD happens, please record and post back as much of this as you can. The main things we are looking for are the lines that describe the problems not how to recover. There should be something in there like IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA and some STOP: codes. These are the bits we need.

It would be better to get the kernel or memory dump and not just the actual stop error message.

Look in C:\windows for a MEMORY.dmp file and C:\Windows\Minidump for the kernel dumps (which are much smaller and more manageable for upload).

Thanks again! I will do that precisely and I will post that info following my next crash. It could be today or it could be a couple of days from now. I saved the .dmp file which I cannot open and I saved the WER-4974747-0.sysdata.xml file but I don't see anything in there like IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. I did do a snip of part of the first message from windows but the only codes I recorded this morning are:

    BCCode: 4a
    BCP1: 0000000077B3138A
    BCP2: 0000000000000002
    BCP3: 0000000000000000
    BCP4: FFFFF88002905C60

How do I upload the .dmp file please? It is only 256KB.

Compress it into a zip file and attach it.

I won't be able to check it until tomorrow though as this Mac doesn't really have the tools needed.

:) Still waiting for another crash which hopefully will not come ....... maybe my problem is cured. I uninstalled Microsoft Silverlight and Microsoft SkyDrive, then reinstalled only Skydrive. So far so good but in the past, crashes at times have been several days apart.

:( I spoke too soon!! Windows Live Mail 2012 was open, minimized. I was performing a Google web search with Firefox.exe when the crash occurred. Upon reboot, there was no Windows "unexpected shutdown message" window as seen on previous crashes.

I could not find any ".......sysdata.xml" file and no ......dmp file newer than my 4/14 BSOD crash. Thank you!

Thanks for doing that. I was so busy yesterday that I didn't have a chance.
