    I have a Geforce 4200Ti here.

It's working now because I uninstalled the drivers, but the scrolling is horrible and choppy and, yeah it's pretty much impossible to work with all this lag.

The problem is that I formatted my computer, and then put windows back up, did the windows update, and yay it found the drivers for my video card. I also tried doing this with the driver downloaded from the nvidia site. Now the problem is when I install the driver, even though I have the correct driver installed, this happens.
Basically, when I turn on my computer, everything is good, and it works and all, but after the windows boot screen, the screen just turns black and stays there. The status light on my monitor turns orange as well. I have ruled out the possibility of a bad monitor and KVM switch already as i tried bypassing the KVM and I tried using another monitor, but I don't know what's going on. I had Linux running on this machine before and the drivers were fine. I've also tried reinstalling windows AGAIN and doing the driver thing, but I don' know what's going on.

So Here's some specs about my video card.

    It's a geforce 4200ti

    I have a coppermine 933mhz cpu

    I have 512mb of RAM

All on a Asus CUSL2 mobo

Help please! I don't know what to do!

    I forgot to add

If it's working (crappily) without drivers, does it mean that I have a defect in the hardware itself, or if it just a operating system fault?

OK so I tried installing the drivers again, and this time I paid a bit more attention. Before the screen blanks out, there's a little flash in the middle, as if something want to start. Also because I was distracted for a bit, I came back to a BSOD.

It seems as if there is a problem with nv4_disp

    Technical info:
    STOP: 0x000000EA (0x822421B0, 0x82190A60, 0xF8965CB4, 0x00000001)

I will try and find out what that is supposed to mean, unless somebody replies and finds out what it means before i do.

EDIT: ok the last stop error flag is supposedly something wrong with the registry. I will attempt to find a fix.
Are there any free registry repair programs that they can recommend?
