I have a Dell XPS [Gen 4, Windows XP service pack 2] with ~8 USB2 ports, there are also two additional USB ports on my Dell 24" flat panel and four additional ports on a USB hub.

The tablet (mouse) is plugged into one, two printers and a scanner are plugged into the USB hub, and nothing is plugged into the USB ports on the monitor. When I plug a 256MB USB drive into any USB port, I get a sound acknowledging that its been plugged in but I can't find it on "my computer" window and it doesn't appear in the disk management window.

How can I get this drive to show up so I can save to it?

you sure it's not conflicting with an old driver?

    Check Device manager for errors

There were no conflicts in the device manager and I tried updating hardware with no effect. Any other ideas? I will check the USB storage divice on my computer @ work to make sure it works.
