service control manager event 7000 error

I keep getting this error on a Windows 2000 machine and have no idea what service this is referring to:

the msko8u2c service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.

any help would be appreciated.

Malware is notorious for generating 8 alpha-numeric files.
I suspect you either have or had malware and the "msko8u2c" file is part of this.
