    Right click my computer / properties / advanced / startup and recovery and uncheck the box to restart on errors. Then the next time you will get a BSOD ...post the exact error message.

    i know that, but could someone analyze the memory dump anyways. i think it may be due to a second faulty hd

    i dont really understand them but do u hear a click sound when the computer restarts?? are there any weird sounds that u hear that u normally wouldn't?

    no, no weird sounds. the computer usually freezes for a few seconds, no matter what i do, then reboots like every 1.5 hours or so. it judt started happening. i had the same problem with my other computer in its later years. i just bought this pc 6 months ago and it seems like its going through the same problems as my old one. weird. anyways i suspected a faulty hd that i had removed from my old system that i had placed in this new one when i had bought it. ive removed it from my new system now, and im just hoping the problem is gone. but i really do need someone to anaylze the memory dump. the most recent application ive installed is "dragon's naturally speaking 7.0", maybe the drivers it installed are conflicting wuth windows. as of now im not too sure, but the ones i posted raise some questions. like i said, if someone can analyze the memory dump, then that would be really helpful...

    thanks lemme know what the problem was. btw if you plan on buying a new hard drive i've heard that the 7200rpm hard drives die faster than the 5200rpm ones

    ======

    definitly, these days ull only see the 7200 rpm ones. 5400 rpm are way out of date for desktops, though ull still see em in notebooks. i have a primary 320 gb wd hd, lol i think im safe for now ;) thanks. btw i will let you know what the problem was if i find out, as of now my computer seems to run fine since i removed the secondary one yesterday. hopefully the problem is solved now, you know how much it grieves us whenever a problem pops up.

    Hi Sergeant
    according to WinDbg the culprit may be srescan.sys , which sounds like beeing a kind of antivirus or firewall driver..

    WinDbg (which is the MS debugging tool) gave a partial analyze since your memory crashdump is a partial 64K file. Next time (if it happens again) consider tweaking your debug settings by choosing 'complete memory image' in your parameters (ctrl pannel/system/advanced/boot&recover/parameters/) and then pull down menu in systel crash). Regards

    I'm betting it's a wrecked fan causing all those probs... It sure sounds like an overheating problem...

    If the tower sits on the floor, and you sweep went the PC is on, then the cooling fans will suck in a lot of dust... The dust gets into the fan bearings, and the high speed motion of the fan turns that dust into carbon, which abrades the fans bearings and shafts smooth surfaces into dust, slowing them down, and eventually seizing them up... Then you get a pile of horrid loop glitches from overheating in the tower...

    You can't restore a dust damaged fan... It's History, Aymen!... You can free up the bearings, for a short time, with solvents and lubs, but the damage is done...

    Switch off, then open the tower.. How dusty is it inside..? If there is a serious layer of dust on the boards, your fans are pooched...

    Always turn computers off before sweeping any where in the house... Then use a house-fan to push the airborne dust out of the building, before restarting the computer... Corporations spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to make computer room dust free, for just this reason...

    What software are you using to analyze your HDD's? There is some good software out there to tell if your HDD is going bad or not. 2 good freeware programs I can think of are HDDlife and speedfan. Both can analyze various parameters of the drive and both can give you temps, as well. Everest is good to have too.

    Isn't that prob with two hd's just because the motherboards switches weren't properly set for a slave..?

    Sure makes sense that a second hd would also want to boot-up if it were set to be the primary as well......
