another combofix stuck at splash screen

hi all i new to this site but being a sort of windows expert and having run combofix on various pcs im a bit dismayed i ran combofix on a win xp pc today everything running fine until restart computer gets to just after splash screen then a black screen with just mouse cursor.
nothing absolutly nothing you can do will sort this problem out starting in safe mode >>>>no way<<<<
starting with command prompt >>no way<<
starting last known config >>>no way<<
running repair option from windows cd >>no way<<
using wininternals software >>no way<< (this piece of software is about 4 grand in price and not even that would let me get into win xp installtion)
1 solution for your problem reinstall your whole system
by the way this was an uptodate version of combo fix and looking through your forums a few other people r starting to surface with this problem..
makes me think maybe your software on this occasion

btw now the computer has a backup in place and kaspersky internet security (was a customers pc)
