Hey im new to upgrading PCs I know how to install most componants but have real problems picking them im about to buy a new power pack to support my new Graphics Card but im not sure if the one i have picked is right (im a bit put off by the price) it would have to support

    2 ATA HDD
    8600GT 1024MB GPU
    Intel Pentium D 3.33Ghz CPU
    1 DVD-R ATAPI
    2 Gigz DDR2 PC4300 Ram

That power supply should be fine for your system. Personally, I'd go with a 500w, but that's me. The 420w ThermalTake should be fine; ThermalTake has pretty good products.

I have a different model ThermalTake 420Watt PSU. Works great for the price, but mine cannont handle a video card that requires extra power. I still have it in an old socket A computer with an old ATI 9250 video card. Back when this was my main computer, it would randomly crash after I installed an ATI 9800XT AGP video card. After buying a more powerful PSU, I had no problems.

If I were you I would look into one with a bit more power. And don't be cheap when getting a PSU. Remember it powers everything, and can potentially kill everything it powers if it dies...
