The following is what I sent to Dell the other day, but they were not able to help without $129.

The following occurances began today when my computer was turned on:

-three desktop icons appeared. Spyware protection, privacy protector and error cleaner. When I put the mouse cursor over them they say: http://viruswebprotect.com/shandler.php?

    I have not used them.

-three messages continue to constantly pop-up that attempt to look like they are from my Windows. There are:
    Windows Security Alert
windows has detected an internet attack attempt....Somebody's trying to infect your pc with spyware or harmful viruses. Run full system scan now to protect your pc from internet attacks, hijacking attempts and spyware. Click here to download spyware remover for total protection.

    The second one is:

    System Alert
System detected virus activities. These may impact performance of your computer. Please, use recomended antispyware software to protect your system from parasite programs.

    The third alert is:
    Spyware Alert
Worm.win32netsky detected on machine. This virus is distrubuted via the internet through email and active x objects. The wormown SMPT engine which means it gathers email from your local computer and redistributes itself. In worst case allow attackers to access your computer, stealing passwords and personal data. This process should be removed from your system.
    Type-virus
sysytem affected- Windowsa 2000, NT, ME, XP, Vista
    security risk (0-5)-5
Recomendation-click yes to remove it from your PC immediately

I have ignored them and have not followed there instructions

I also ran three programs to find viruses and spyware both in regular mode and safe mode. They are McAffee, Avanquest Fix-It Utilities 8 and Spy Doctor.

After doing this it appeared the problem was solved as I did not see any of these warnings until around midnight tonight at which time they started appearing continually again.

I do not believe these are truly Windows warnings as they direct me to go somewhere other than Microsoft or Windows to get downloads. Please help me with further ideas on how to remove this garbage from my computer.

Now whenever I try and go to a web site I get redirected to "trustedantivirus.com. I have been able to hit "stop" and stay with your web site long enough to write this, but it is getting more agressive.

I had started the "you must read this before posting a hijackthis log" and had gotten to SUPERAntispyware download instructions but rebooting to run AVG seemed to clear all original things from your web site as I had to reregister and nothing was in my history so I could return to where I was.

Anyway I apparently screwed up and downloaded something and could use some help. Thanks,

    Derrik

    Welccome to Major Geeks!

I'm not sure what your problem was but if you are running the READ & RUN ME procedure you need to follow only the steps in it exactly as written and they do not ask you to run AVG (I assume you mean the antivirus????). Just complete the instructions in the READ ME and attach the requested logs when finished. If you have problems with any steps, write down the problem to explain to us later but continue on thru all steps anyway. When you finish, come back here and explain any problems you had running the READ ME, and attach the logs you have. Also be sure to explain what malware problems you are still having.

NOTE: When you login to Major Geeks, be sure to put a check mark in the Remember Me box.
