    Hi,

Does anyone know how to launch a cmd.exe window but I don't want an entry on the taskbar. The taskbar needs to remain visible etc so just hiding the whole task bar is not an option.

Also is it possible to hide the cmd.exe window once it has launched a task (though the task maybe running). The cmd.exe windows disappears once the launch task finishes but is there a way of hiding the cmd.exe window altogether ?

    Thanks
    All.

Not sure I understand the question. Type command in the start>run and you get a command window within windows... task bar available. This window can be minimised. It can still be minimised while running a dos command like dir /s

    The correct way:

Your desktop taskbar gives you an option to create a new toolbar where you can put a folder or folders from your c: drive containing the cmd.exe program(s) and the other program(s) you want to run in secret and just as with the standard pre loaded toolbars you can choose to view or hide the new toolbar without hiding the entire taskbar.

NOTE: first create a new folder on your c drive and then drag and drop all the programs shortcut files you want to run in secret.

To set programs to launch with out opening up a window first you will need to: From the c: drive folder you created right click on each programs shortcut file type choose properties and click on the shortcut tab in the run list change it to minimize. You may still get the icon for a moment on the taskbar for this consider changing the icon

Then go to start choose help and support center type in the search window: task bar toolbar and click search then click on the task to add toolbars to the task bar and follow the instructions.

    The lazy cheaters way:
Drag and drop your secret program(s) from their drive location to the quick launch toolbar and right click each programs icon and change the icon and the start up option in one step and the best feature is only the icons appear in the quicklaunch no program names.
