working through the malware removal into the small hours last night. ran SaS, malwarebytes then combofix today. After pc startedup again I couldn't open any programs at all just a window saying illegal operation: registry marked for deletion. I really don't now hat to do and am not keen to use other thread responses to fix it...please help.
I was also cleaning my spare old dinosaur, got to the same point on combofix, on restart: getting connection problems and the window says webpage requested is no available offline and lots of other problems completing the cleanup - can we look at this later as well please?

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Click Start, Run, and enter sfc /scannow and click OK. There is a space after the sfc. This runs System File Checker which looks for missing or corrupted system files and attempts to replace/repair them from files on your hard disk or from the CD if necessary. So it will ask for the Windows CD if it needs it.

We only will discuss one PC in a thread. So if you have problems with other PCs, you need to open new threads for them and clearly state your problems. You also need to attach the requested logs.

Note: Also see Halo's comment on editing your 1st post. Use of ... in messages will get your posts trapped in the spam filter so we strongly suggest that you stop using them especially since they are not needed.

Apologies Halo for not reading that. I haven' used forums before. Chaslang thank you very much for fixing that up I can now access files but can't internet to finish the cleanup. My ISP says it's the AV avast and suggested I delete it. I am only running Avast as my AV and I presume the firewall is Wndows defender. SAS also pops up on startup. I am running Vista and IE 32bit and attach the only logs I have so far, combofix didn't attach for some reason. Would you mind advising next steps please? Huge thanks.

First make sure that the below is not why you are having a problem connecting.

See this:Proxy Server - Changing Settings

Are you sure you tried to attach the combofix.txt log. It is not named anything else. Make sure you did not try to attach the combofix.exe program file.

If you download MGtools.exe when requested, please run it and attach the log. You can copy the log to a flash drive and then copy to another PC to post it here. Also make sure that we are only talking about one PC in this thread and not two.

Why were you running the cleaning procedure to begin with?

I've goofed up. clicked on combofix again looking for the log file for you and it ran again. I didn't want to cancel it and stuff up but now have illegal operation error message back. As you suggested before I tried to running sfc /scannow and it still gves the same error message. I have found the logfile for combofix but I think its the new one.

A friend downloaded a torrent that only played for 21 seconds, i googled this and movie name and found a thread saying it was malware. Then I googled malware removal and here I am.

Does it still give this error message even after a reboot.

You still have not attach the log from MGtools.

This would more likely indicate a bad/incomplete download, not malware.
