cannot start xp sp2 firewall

everytome i go tostart the firewall on my pc i get an error message that states: could not start windors firewall/internet connection sharing (ICS) services on local computer. error 10047 an address incompatible with the requested protocol was used. does anyone know what this is and how can i get xp sp2 to get it started? i tries to go into admin tools then services but that did not work ( this is where i gotr the error message.

Try the following. (You must be logged in as Administrator)

Go to Start, Run and type in cmd then press enter or click O.K.

At the command prompt type in netsh Winsock reset

Press Enter, then reboot.

 

I thought it was "netsh winsock reset catalog".

 

There are probably more than a dozen winsock commands.

The one I posted is the solution listed on a Micro$$oft page.
