Well it finally got me. This Ultimate Defender balloon zapped my system. I realize that the removal is more complicated than my rudimentary skills can handle. I have SpyWare Nuker and AVG Anti Virus and have had no trouble until this came along and it can't detect it.
Here is a HiJackThis Log. Its my first time using a Forum like this so bear with me if I am bad at it please.

Edit by chaslang: Inline HJT log removed. READ & RUN ME sticky not followed.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

You have alot more problems that this!

Not recommended! At one time it was even on the rogue tool list. It is not on the list anymore but it still is not highly recommended. Did you purchase this?

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments. Make sure you follow all instructions to avoid further delays. For example, make sure you uninstall all but one antivirus (you have AVG and Symantec), also uninstall all Viewpoint software (as you will see it list in the link in step 0 of the READ ME).
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

Requesting check up after Malware removal Guide

I got the Utlimate Defender thingy messing me up and when I posted a thread from Hijack This, I was told that was the least of my problems! Thanks for the help. I diligently followed the Malware Removal Guide and here are the results.
For some reason, the Bit Defender found problems but there was no report generated. I returned to the computer and the screen was back at their home page. Otherwise, all went without a hitch!
Hopefully this worked...thanks for the much needed help and experience.

This post has the AVG Antispyware attachment, PandaActiveScan log, and runkey. The next post will have the ShowNew and Hijack This log. The Bit Defender cleaned and returned to the homepage and I could not locate a report.

Re: Requesting check up after Malware removal Guide

Here are the follow up logs. I am holding off on clicking the FIX CHECKED on HJT until I get a response from someone who knows what is going on.

If I understood the Malware Removal Guide correctly, after this examination, then I move to Step 8 and toggle System Restore...right?

Thanks so much. Here goes nothin'.

Please remember to remain in one thread for a particular problem. I merged you back to your starting thread.

    Uninstall the below software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 1
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2
Viewpoint Manager (Remove Only) <-- should have been uninstalled in step 0 of the READ ME
Viewpoint Media Player <-- should have been uninstalled in step 0 of the READ ME

Make sure you reboot after uninstalling the above!

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = C:\WINDOWS\system32\searchbar.html

    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
[*]Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
[*]You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
[*]A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
    Now run Ccleaner!

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. Avenger
    2. GetRunKey
    3. ShowNew
    4. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore,
reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 8 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or
    WinMe.

Great step by step instructions Chaslang! When I re-started after Avenger I got a message window that read, "Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c" with options to retry, cancel, or continue. I clicked continue and everything seemed fine.

Here are the 4 logs after the latest steps were followed.

Here is the newest HJT. Already things seem faster and better. If this wound up clearing me, I'll take care of steps 8 and on. I am excited now.
    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!:major

That looks better, but I just want to be sure that all traces of the infection you had are really gone. Please run this: WareOut Removal and attach the requested log.
