Site had issues. Issues fixed. ;)

Now if only I could throttle my ISP for throttling my bandwith. :mad

Thought I saw a response in this thread suggesting MG was operating normally again. It isn't. Every software link I've tried results in a MySQL error something like this:

A Google search for majorgeeks turned up this interesting morsel:

Why does Google think the site may be hacked?!

Know what you mean! Looks like things are back and running normally, and a Google search a minute ago no longer showed the site may be hacked alert.

    :)

Sadly some jump at what they read on the internet as being gospel! the internet is full of FUD at times and should never be taken as the truth in no corroborated.

I kinda guessed at two things we either had hardware failure or testing a new software backend.

Mail was down too Laura... I think it still is. I'm pretty sure I don;t care right now though.

Were actually held together with a bit of glue, duct tape and Philipp genius at the moment. There will be more downtime this weekend as we re-add components that failed. We may actually just get a new machine. That may be the easiest route -- That creates other problems though... Is it too early with Guinness?

Mail and in MG mail I seem to be ok with I think, not had incoming but think sent!?

Never too early Jim and if you in UK I would buy you a few dozen!

I'm in Ireland in a few weeks time so Guinness is so nice there! :major

Ahh...well, that explains 3 of you. LOL TimW...you're just slow. :-D

And as far as I'm concerned, it's after 12 noon on a Friday, so no way it's too early for a Guiness. ;)

Just curious about the back-end. Is it raid 6 with hot spare? This is the route that I've been pushing at work. We use to have EMC SANs with multiple raid 5's with hot spares for each, it helps when a drive dies, that way once the raid config rebuilds from the hot spare, pop out the bad drive, and it rebuilds back. I push for any non-branded SANs or NAS to use raid 6 with hot spare.

Currently one of our EMC SANs is sitting in the corner, our other is our test lab, now we have two Tintri's. These are awesome if you are dealing with VM's.

Yeah in London in early March, and some pubs around the Moorfields Eye hospital area have some really nice craft beers on tap. My favs are Belgian wheat beers, but a good IPA has me all the time Cain's a local brewery has a nice one.

This is what happens the site goes down and we all turn to booze :-D :major

This is why I love you guys -- Take a perfectly good thread about raid array failures and hijack it into where to get the best beers in the UK... Geeks FTW! :dood

I know but you did mention Guinness, only have to give us enough wiggle room to get off tangent!

@JoeRay12, I know the Wetherspoons you mean and how hard it is to get IPA (espec Cains).

I like the beer talk. Used to really enjoy it every evening. Now only a couple glasses dark wine. Does the trick. But back to the first topic here - Ever since this started MajorGeeks home page with the file list -in IE9 on this vista box- pages loads normal but any link takes you to the proper page but breaks IE in about 8 seconds. "A problem with the page caused Internet Explorer to stop working." Continues to repost the same message if you stay. This happens for program link and news links and reviews links off base way off base. Anything from the main page. On forums nothing out of the ordinary happens. Site works with firefox, Site works with Slimbrowser. Also works with linux and seamonkey. IE9 is used alot and I have no such happenings with any other site. Downloaded videos read news did updates went to emails. Only happens on the home page. Anybody else seeing this? Any ideas.

Well back on beer talk (sorry Jim) the Artillery Arms in London is a GREAT pub, nice London Pride beer, just back home now, great few days in London as always, caught up with great friend, she is working in Ophthalmology in hospital I was visiting.

Dark Wine is good, depends on the grape, Malbec and Merlot are superb varieties to go for.

As for your issue in IE I think its to do with the Facebook addon we have here on the forum, I get the same and when you look at what loads on the page its seeming to be the facebook addon, very likely the forum software as its old works better in Fx or Chrome but we need change of forum soft as vB is old now. I actually use Fx Nightly for using the forum now over IE and even IE11/12

I have about 35 x 700 ml bottles of home brew sitting around in my garage. It said it was 'Yorkshire Bitter Ale', or some such on the tin.
I would try some, but it's about 3 years old now, and I'm kinda skeered I might :eek:puke, so maybe not, lol.

To be sure, Dave. I make a mean, (alcoholic) Ginger Beer, too!;)

From RA.I.D. => British Beer => Ginger Beer. (Nice metamorphosis, eh?)

on home brew- in the fla sunshine it's amazing what some fruit water sugar and yeast can do. I like a good mixture of fruit. Comes off like a san gria flavor.
