    Hi
    I have windows XP sp3

My pc has been randomly restarting for a while now (months) It is quite rare so tend to ignore it (if any advice on this, that would be great)

But few days ago I was doing a disc cleanup, and whilst it was compressiong old files.. a restart happened.

When the PC boots it goes straight to blue screen with message saying windows has been closed due to preventing damage etc etc...

It wont open in Safe Mode either.

I put in a vista disc and it said something about \boot\memtest.exe file is missing or corrupted (status 0x000000F)

Do I need to simply input a XP disc? The problem is I dont own one and will need to buy one if neccesary.

I went on a website called www.memtest.org and they have a file for a USB pen. Do you think this is advisable?

Sorry its not straight forward, guess these things never are.

    Help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Mark
