    Hi guys,

I started getting error messages yesterday saying "Microsoft Detected Security Error, Due to Suspicious Activity Found on Your Computer. Contact Microsoft Certified Live Technicians 0-800-098-8545" I also noticed I was being redirected to hurryupsearch.com when I used Internet Explorer. No problems in Firefox.

Then I got several "Warning" messages about different software on my computer with similar odd type and wording.

After trying to leave the page the browser froze.

I then followed the instructions in Read & Run Me First.

TDSS Killer froze and then everything froze. I took out the battery and then turned it back on. When I did, a Windows Update started to install itself.

I then continued the Read & Run Me First and everything went pretty much smoothly from there. I've attached the logs. Please help & many thanks in advance!

So this is only happening with IE? Do you use a pop up blocker in IE?

@Kestrel13!, This is probably an Add-on. I suggest running AdwCleaner to see what it shows.

    Thanks Chas. :)

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.

    • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
    • Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator
    • Click on the Scan button.
    • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
    • After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R#].txt) will open in Notepad for review (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
    • The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
    • Attach the logfile to your next next reply.
    • A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the help but I can't get it to run. Windows SmartScreen keeps blocking it. UAC is off and I selected run as administrator.

Did you really mean that you cannot get it to run? Or did you mean that you cannot download it? If the latter then just tell it to download it anyway.

If you really meant that SmartScreen is blocking you from running it, then just click the More Info selection and then select Run Anyway.

    Hi there,

Sorry for the delay. Downloading was not the problem, it was opening the program. But I was able to open it this time without SmartScreen even appearing. I've attached the log. Thanks for your help!

Run AdwCleaner again and this time allow it to fix all the items it finds.

Then reboot and after reboot, see if you are still having problems.

    Thanks Chaslang,

I just opened IE and had no problems there. Before, not only was I getting the redirects when the browser was open but I was getting the error messages about programs I have installed even when the browser wasn't open.

Since the clean and reboot, I'm not seeing anything apart from on McAfee Security Scan which came with my Flash Player update and automatically opened once I rebooted.

It says that I've visited harmful websites which I have no recollection of visiting. Before running ADWCleaner and rebooting it was "www.runcdns.com" now since the reboot it's "www.furiousproductions.com."

Don't know if that means anything but just wanted to run that by you. I've attached the most recent AdwCleaner log also.

I assume "It" is McAfee Security Scan? If so, it may be just picking up on things in your browser cache due to advertisements, images,.....etc that are on web pages.

If I were you, I would uninstall McAfee Security Scan and next time you update Adobe Flash don't let it install any other baggage! Uncheck the check boxes which are enabled by default.

Are you having any real remaining malware problems now?

Yes I was talking about the McAfee.

I've not noticed any other problems since then.

Good! Then time for the below.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • For Windows 8 and 8.1 system restore see this link: Win 8 System Restore - How to enable/disable
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
