    Hi!
I have a Dell 64bit computer running windows 7 that is being bombarded with ads every time I browse the internet. Ads invade the borwser and it is sometimes difficult to close them out. First it was only on Internet Explorer, so I switched to Chrome, and now it is over there as well. A friend of mine who follows you, suggested that my computer has been hit by Malware and to look you up.

Thus far, beside making sure my Norton AV is up to date and operating normally and then clearing my excess files, I have not run any malware utilities other than specified in your read me first instructions. Hopefully, I did it right. Attached are the log files requested.

Other than the ads and some slowish performance, everything else seems to be working OK. Once I get this under control, I'm interested in how I can prevent a future infection.

    Thank you!
    Jill

    Uninstall this junk:
    • Ask Toolbar
    • Babylon toolbar on IE

Have Hitman Pro fix all it finds.

[IMG] Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Thank you for the instructions.

Babylon has been uninstalled, but I couldn't uninstall the Ask Toolbar. I kept getting a message saying Chrome was open, but I had just rebooted and never opened it. Shortly later, something called white sky opened in Chrome by itself.

Ran Hitman Pro and resolved what it found.
Downloaded Junkware Removal tool and ran it. Log is attached.
Ran MGtools\GetLogs.bat. Zipped file is attached.

While running MGTools, a window opened for TrendMicro HijackThis software agreement. I closed the window.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.
You were meant to accept the license agreement and let it run. ;)

Can you re run Hitman Pro and hopefully show/attach me a clean log please?
Also you need to describe how things are running.

    Thanks again!

The add to the registry appeared to be successful.

Hitman Pro was run run again and the new log is attached. The new run didn't appear to find anything.

"You were meant to accept the license agreement and let it run"
    Oops. Should I rerun it?

Things seem to be running better but I'll really give it a workout tomorrow and will let you know.

    I so appreciate your time.:)

Hi and sorry for the delay in getting back.
Google Chrome is working great, but IE is still a pop-up mess. Is there a setting in IE that can take care of it? I'm guessing that it's just isolated to IE at this point.

    Thanks again!!!!!!!

IE has a built in popup blocker. See it under the Tools menu.

But if you are a looking to block advertisements, then Adblock is a better choice.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
