Symptoms seem to be classic with many other threads. All browsers redirect to garbage sites when clicking on search results or upon opening.

    OS - Windows XP

AVG Full version (9) scan - no results
    mbam - no results
    sas - no results
GMER - I get massive lag when this runs, the system keeps slowing to a halt and freezing/crashing on/near completion making it hard to save a log (scans > 4 hrs each...) but it did report the following: c:\windows\system32\drivers\ohci1394.sys - suspicious modification
Combofix - seems to run, the pointer turns to an hourglass, then... nothing
RootRepeal - this ones also very slow, will let it run over night but wanted to get a post up before bed.

Thanks very much in advance for any assistance you can render!

Update, Rootrepeal keeps freezing the pc midstream

GMER also reports: C:\windows\system32\drivers\nvgts.sys - suspicious modification on launch.

OK, I may be being to impatient for my own good here but I've taken a bit more initiative,

I rand TDSSKiller using the instructions as specified in many other threads in this forum. It identified the suspicious file detected earlier by GMER.

I let it do its cleanup thing and re-booted - log attached

I suspect the next step is to run ComboFix by dragging a CFscript.txt file with the following onto the desktop icon.

But I'm hesitant to leap ahead on this one, combofix seems a little scary! I'll go distract myself by working on the laptop until i get a response so I don't do any damage!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Just a heads up that everytime you added another post, you lost your place in the queue and delayed getting a response to your thread. See: Don't Bump! It Only Hurts You!!!

No! TDSSkiller already fix the TDSS infection. Are you still having redirections?

    Excellent it seems fixed!

I did notice the sticky about bumping, but really wanted you to have as much information available as possible the first time you looked so that this would be a quick fix for you.

Anything I should do other than the standard procedures to assure a clean bill of health?

Your logs are basically clean. You just need to address a couple things and then final steps.

Do you know what the below are on your Desktop? If not then delete them
    Code:
    "C:\Documents and Settings\Craig Bauer\Desktop\"
    e54ohko8.exe Jul 7 2010 293376 "e54ohko8.exe"
    tada.exe Jul 7 2010 3728027 "tada.exe"

    Delete the below folders:
    Code:
    "C:\Documents and Settings\Craig Bauer\Local Settings\Application Data\"
    BTFREB~1 May 6 2010 "btfrebsgd"
    FVHCUR~1 Apr 28 2010 "fvhcurhha"
    GSORDR~1 May 6 2010 "gsordrswc"
    YWRBVE~1 Apr 28 2010 "ywrbvejtk"

Also in the future when you make user accounts on PCs, I suggest that you NEVER use anyones real full name. First names only or use other create nicknames ( even mommy, daddy, son, daughter, mypc, owner ....etc) anything non-descriptive.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
