OK.... I am anal about backups...(more people should be!)
and have used Norton Ghost for quite sometime with no problems....

It takes a long time though (2+ hours)

I have used M$ backup program and it takes about 1/2 the time...
I back up everything on my main drive to a spare harddrive...

I am in XP Home (yes, there is a backup, you just have to install it off the CD)

Is there something I should know about M$ backup.... why do we need to pay for all these other programs (Yes, I paid for Norton system works) if M$ backup does the same for free?

    Any thoughts?

Norton Ghost is capable of restoring an image from a standard DOS prompt .

MS Backup requires that Windows is installed first..

If not needing a complete system backup, but just a backup of your personal files, then MS Backup or normal file copy will do fine.
