I own an Aspire 3682WXMi on bootup yesterday the display remained black. I hooked it up to an external monitor using the d sub port and instantly got a display. On closer inspection I found that I could see a very faint "Ghost image" on the display panel. Can anyone tell me if it's the LCD panel or the inverter, or maybe something else entirely ??

Might just be a loose connection, but probably the inverter.

Do you have the expertise to disassemble and replace?

You should be able to source a reeplacement (Ebay?) for £15 - £25. Add something like £35 for fitting costs.

Thanks I have some experience in disassembling and reassembling and I have a service manual, I'll give it a try !!

Yea I bought an Inverter Toshiba Tecra A8 for $45 AUD ... its not hard to fit an inverter ... although remember it could also be backlights in the screen

I think they are integral with the inverter on this model.
