According to PC World this program does a more thorough job of uninstalling programs than what comes loaded in Vista. Thoughts & recommendations appreciated.

I have used Revo for about a year now. Won't uninstall anything without it! An excellent program that I have seen recommended many times here at MG's.

Yup. Revo is excellent :cool It does a very thorough job of removing programs as it will scan the registry and hard drive and remove any items left behind by the program that a normal uninstall wouldn't remove. I've used it to remove programs when their uninstallers have become corrupt, or the program itself has become corrupt and wouldn't uninstall. Revo has been able to remove these in all but a few extreme cases.

Found this the most useful tool for taking out those pesky programs you cannot get out with add/remove..also cleans up things left over in the registry a lot better than add/remove IMHO as long as you are careful using it like anything else.was going to ask for thoughts on it with a new thread but found this one have HJT too just in case.Did not think I could access this forum from here but Cool I can,may need to at a later date.Nota tech but am treated like one around here where it seems Vista rules.Wonder what the new OS Windows7 will be like?hear good things just as heard before Vista's release.hope it is not all hype.home run XP pro fwiw

    Re: Revo Uninstaller

Check out my Tip # 39 at "From today's MajorGeeks front page--Sep 2008" at http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=168572 for my thoughts.

Beware, it is really powerful when used to its' most deep option (#4) and capabilities. I'd recommend at least creating a System Restore point, each time, before using it. 5/5 from me.

Damn, caught again -- old thread. :confused Ah well, I got in a plug for "My Tips ". ;)

    Windows Defender?

If you are using Vista then no. Windows Defender from what I understand is part of the Vista OS so removing it could cause big problems. I believe the best you can do is turn it off. How to Turn Windows Defender On or Off (Vista)

Revo Uninstaller is a tool to take out programs listed in Programs plain and simple.too bad Microsoft did not think of it just like the Defragger it has compliments of the makers of Diskeeper.if revo was downloaded direct from the site itself there should be No virus attached.sound like it came from a mirror site if it gave you more than just the uninstaller. must take back the Defender comment b/c it's wrong.it belongs with the OS.
