Can not recognize E drive

    I have a desktop computer i acquired cheap, no operating system. When I am workind on it I get a message it can not recognize the E drive . It ia a year old HP. I have done all I know how to do. THANKS

    Am assuming that this comes up when your trying to install the os ..... have you gone into the bios and checked it's settings?

    Check the BIOS and see what the E Drive is. If it is during install, it might be the CD Drive and the CD is bad.

    Sounds like a CD, I think HP's have that partitioned hard drive. Which makes the next drive E.check the bios make sure all drives are set to auto, if they are or you still get this message, unplug the cd drive and see if you get the message. It should boot. The message you are getting means the os is loading because xp has already recognized that it has drives.
