Hello there,

After many days of looking over similar posts all over the internet to a fix ive decided to post one of my own.

My sidebar does load up as normal however all gadgets apart from the clock appear to be malfunctioning.

The actual gadgets that are not working correctly are still attached to the sidebar however all the icons and pictures such as buttons are not available and have a white box around them such like that of a picture on the internet that has been removed with the small red "x" on the top right and corner.

I have tried un-installing my java and my AVG anti virus and reinstall.
As well as this ive tried the admin cmd thingy:

regsvr32 scrrun.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 atl.dll
regsvr32 sbdrop.dll
regsvr32 wlsrvc.dl

and the:

regsvr32 scrrun.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll

but still have no joy!

if anyone has any ideas would be great!!

Do the original gadgets work, or, do the ones you've added do not work?

Its only the clock that works im afraid the weather, picture slide show etc the ones which were default are all having the same effect of not functioning correctly.
If this helps this is the current state of the sidebar:

Well, javascript anyway.

Go to start, and in the search box type this.

regsvr32 sbdrop.dll and hit ENTER. It should succeed.
regsvr32 wlsrvc.dll and hit ENTER. Same thing.

Thanks for the speedy reply, however the two lines were rejected with the message of "" module failed to load.
I carefully entered it in a few times exactly.
Im using Windows Vista Home Premium if thats any help..

Thanks again

Oops!

They are located at
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\sbdrop.dll"
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\wlsrvc.dll"

You might need to unregister them first.

regsvr32 -u "C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\sbdrop.dll"
regsvr32 -u "C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\wlsrvc.dll"

then

regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\sbdrop.dll"
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\wlsrvc.dll"

If it still doesnt work, try doing it from an elevated command prompt.

type cmd into search and hit CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER to get elevated privs.

In an elevated cmd prompt, try this.

regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 scrrun.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll

Hi,

i attempted to enter "regsvr32 jscript.dll"
and i received the error:
regsvr32 jscript.dll was loaded but the call to dllregisterserver failed with the error code 0x80004005

and the same occured with the other two lines

thanks for the continued assistance

Hmmm...Im a retard today, and didnt notice you tried that in your first post.

Although, Im thinking that is your precise problem, is with jscript....

You did try this from an Administrator cmd prompt, right? It should look like this at the top:

Ok, Hang tight. Lets try a registration via the registry.

First, back up your registry via system restore, or some other method. I have a tutorial in the FAQ section. Then add these registry files by unzipping the folder, right clicking and merging each.

Hi- ive tried the two soloutions:

The manual start bar did not work im afraid.

Ive also attempted to replace my gadgets with the new ones you provided (thanks btw) however it says i dont have the correct permission to replace them .
Ive tried enabling the admin account and even with the admin account in use and in safe mode it still says i dont have the permission to replace the new gadgets with the possible malfunctioning ones in the windows sidebar folder....

Any ideas?

Thanks
