I ran all programs per instructed on this site. attached is my logs. When I reboot Iexplorer is running in background and don't stop. After 1/2 hour it eats up over 100MB. I did a netstat and found an IP that shows as network.upl.cz. Nothing detects it. Please help.

    Hi ccarbo,
    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please run SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
    • Choose your usual account.
    • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
    • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
    • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
    • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
    • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
    • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
Please attach this with your next post.
    Thanks.

    Hi ccarbo,

Your logs look pretty good. Please do the following and then I will post the final cleanup instructions in the box at the end.

    1) Go to add/remove programs and uninstall the below:

    Viewpoint Manager (Remove Only)
    Viewpoint Media Player (Remove Only)

    2) If you do not use Windows Messenger (not to be confused with MSN Messenger!!) I would like you to run Disable/Remove Windows Messenger

    3) Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\bin\jusched.exe"
    O9 - Extra button: Bodog Poker - {F47C1DB5-ED21-4dc1-853E-D1495792D4C5} - C:\Program Files\Bodog Poker\BPGame.exe (file missing)
    O21 - SSODL: MonMon - {4ef19852-449a-4f47-b4b9-7072677a3d7f} - C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{4ef19852-449a-4f47-b4b9-7072677a3d7f}\MonMon.dll
    O21 - SSODL: RamDrv - {7152c214-239e-4a64-b186-cb7ef03f8910} - C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{7152c214-239e-4a64-b186-cb7ef03f8910}\RamDrv.dll

After you click fix, just close hijackthis.

    4) Download and install Erunt. Use it to create a backup of your registry.

    5) Please copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    6) See if you can find this file. If so, delete it:
    C:\WINDOWS\zqhmr.exe.tmp

If you don't have any further questions, please continue with the final cleanup instructions:

Thanks Abri!! I understand and will finish it up with what you said. What was that trojan running in the background? I couldn't really find what is was. thanks!! :cool

    You're welcome.
I don't know what the trojan was. There are different forms of malware and different forms of malware mechanisms and plenty of people who borrow the mechanisms of known malware to create their own. As with any fortress, whether it be a computer or the fortress on the hill, there are a number of different vulnerabilities which exist because access is necessary for the fortress to function. The various products you'll find in the How to protect yourself from malware thread do a lot to cover these vulnerabilities, but there will still be holes and fortunately for us, some of those are known and it's possible to deal with them whether we are able to identify the names companies have given them or not.
I hope this answers your question.

Yes, thanks! I have a computer biz on the side and more and more of my work is this spyware crap. It is time consuming as well, but I am not paying for it!! ;)

I try to educate them as much as possible to keep their PCs clean, some do and some have to come back.
thanks again for all your help. CC

    Hi ccarbo,

    Thanks.

There's one thing left you can still do. Your security center AV diable notify needs to be reset. It can be done as follows:

Please copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
