I assume that my laptop is just trashed. I have gathered the fact that I need to probably replace my RAM

as you can see from this thread.

Now, how do I go about doing that on a laptop?

    I have a Dell Inspiron E1505.

How do I find out what kind of RAM I need?

Check the laptop spec's at Dell's website ...or you will see what it is when you remove it ...however ..you mentioned it is only 6 months old ...why are you not having it warrentied?

it was a refurb. Dell will not do anything after 90 days for me.

    I pulled it out...it says DIMM-A and DIMM-B

under that it says DDR2 only.
I went on newegg.com (if there is a better site, someone let me know lol.) and there are two different options for RAM like this. 200pin and 214 pin micro?

I believe yours will be the micro ....but as to speed ..check the spec's. on the web site.
