Sorry to keep hassling you guys about my stupid computer, I really just have a quick question bout my Hijack This Log. I've done all the steps again, and the only thing found anywhere were some negligible objects by AdAware. I've gone through the entire tutorial and I think I'm starting to kinda understand what you guys are up to when you tell us what to fix and what not fix, so my question is 2 objects keep coming back no matter how many times I fix them and they are:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

I've attached the whole log, like I said I've done all the steps again today, so I hope you don't mind, but if you have any thoughts on what I can do about this or find out why they keep coming back I'd appreciate it. Thanks guys, I might just be getting spyware-obsessed, and I'm sorry to keep bothering you with this.

Are you having any other problems.

These are not necessarily a problem:
Valid R0 and R1 lines will come back. Don't worry about these.
Nothing jumps out at me in your log as being wrong.

Awesome! Thanks for telling me that, I guess I should probably stop trying to fix them then, huh? At this point, no major difficulty thanks for asking, bjgarrick seems to have gotten me fairly straightened out. Thanks for the link too...holy informative batman!

Try a Reset of Web Settings:

    - Run Internet Explorer.
    - Click Tools, Internet Options
    - Then click the Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings".
    - Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply.

Try the above But it is not a problem!

Hi chaslang, I'll do that too, but I've reset them a bunch of times and those two lines keep coming back just to annoy me I think. Thanks for the advice and I will do, and your malware tutorial thing rocks too!

Do you have any programs install like SpywareBlaster or anything else that could be locking any registry settings like this?

    Give this a try:

Copy the contents of the Quote Box below to Notepad. Then click File and then Save As. Change the Save as Type to All Files. Name the file fixlp.reg and then click save. (make sure you save it somewhere you can find it. Saving it to your Desktop may make that easy.)
Double-click on the fixlp.reg file on your desktop (or locate it with Windows Explorer and double click on it if not saved to the Desktop) and when it prompts to merge say yes

Hi, I tried doing what you suggested and it said cannot import C:\Documents and Settings\M3\Desktop\fixlp.reg: Error accessing the registry....I'm not sure why cause I can type regedit in the RUN box and break all manner of things if I wanted to.

I just made a change to the previous message to delete some blank lines. Try copying the info again and give it another try.

Hi, tried again, same thing...I really don't know much about the registry other than I hate it, but one key ([HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3804909484-125725482-3536007706-1005\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]) is actually named [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1482476501-854245398-1202660629-1003\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main] In that key though, there is no reference to a local page, In the first key you mentioned there is a reference and it is already set to what you have listed. I don't know if any of this matters, but I appreciate your help and thought I'd let you know about it.

Okay so use this but exit all browsers before merging it in:

Done and Done! It really blows my mind that you guys would spend so much time helping me with such a dumb little thing, but your fix worked like a charm and I ran a Hijack This scan and the 2 things I was wondering about didn't appear this time. Thanks a bunch Chaslang!

    Great! Love a mini-challenge!

It's a slow night! :D Well in reality it is and I probably would not have been able to focus on this too much if we were real busy since it is not a true malware problem. You just had some registry entries that were empty (blank) and should not be. And Reset Web Settings does not address those particular ones.

Well whatever your reasons I hafta say that I've got nothing but excellent support from everyone here, I was reading the boards for a long time before I registered and all of you really deserve a pat on the back for the help you give people. So hope your night picks up and Cheers!

Thank you! But no thank you on the night picking up! Slow nights are good and we do not get very many! I have to get some sleep sometime. And now it's time for that!
