just bought a cd-rw............

    just bought a nice new external iomega cd-rw 48x24x48. But there is a problem!! I have got one USB port on my laptop which worked fine with my printer etc, but it will just not recognise the cd-rw drive when i plug it in! have checked connections etc but not there!! i have checked all the obvious things and noticed nothing! any ideas much welcomed otherwise 85 quid down the drain!

    Can't argue with that reply. Not sure what to suggest. Does your laptop see the drive when u connect it, or do you get absolutely nothing? If the latter, you may want to check the cable. Have u tried it on any other computers?

    I could ask a load more questions, but it wouldn't help much!

    computer usb 1.0....cdrw only 2.0?
    Did you try different usb cables?
