Outlook Express Problem - Can't Read Msgs

Help!

I can no longer read any emails in my OE. I can open OE and see the To/From, Subject ... info but can't see any text of the email in the text read area of my Inbox or Outbox. When I double click the email I want to read, the email will open but an hour glass appears next to the mouse arrow and the text never appears. I can create and send an email and the receiver can read the new text that I type. However, if I forward an email from the problem OE, the receiver does not see the forwarded text.

I have run NAV; Ad-Aware 6.0; Spybot S&D. I have found and removed several adware programs(although i continue to have pop-up problems - but that is a different story). In Spybot S&D, I removed the identified GREEN Usage Tracks before I read the tutorial. One of those green entries was IE. I went back afterward and recovered the IE setting through the Spybot recovery process.

I have also downloaded and updated the latest IE from MS, as well as other Windows updates MS suggested in their scan.

None of this has helped.

Should I remove IE and OE and reinstall? If I remove OE will I loose all my old emails?

try disabling your antivirus and any antivirus plugins for outlook/e-mail.

 

also, it sounds as if the mailbox data has been corrupted. Find your .dbx files under your user name, usualy local settings/identities. It's a hidden folder so remember to enable that on your views. Temporarily move those files, when you start up OE it should rebuild them. Then you might be able to import them back in.

 

It has gotten worse!

I transferrd all my DBX files to CD Rom. I deleted the files in my folder and restarted the machine. I opened OE and received an email. I could not read it.

I proceeded to uninstall OE the message indicated it would restore an earlier version. I rebooted & opened OE - same problem.

Knowing that IE and OE are combined. I decided to uninstall IE and reinstall it after reboot.

BIG MISTAKE!

I cant reboot.

I get a winlogon.exe - Entry point not found error. "The procedure entry point AssocIsDangerous could not be located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll

After clocking ok I get a user interface failure message:
The logon User Interface DLL msgina.dll failed to load.

Contact your system administrator to replace or restore ( I AM the System Admin!)

It prompts me to Restart.

I try to go into safe mode (or use Last Known Good Config) by clicking F8 but I get a message that Windoes could not start because the following is missing or corrupt:
Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe

And asks me to please re-install a copy of above file.

How do I do this?
