When trying to play a song in WMP, an error came up saying "there are no active mixer devices available.....codec damaged or missing" . After checking Device Manager, everything is present and working properly. I tried disable, uninstall/reinstalling everything (onboard and PCI), still nothing. A look into Services showed me that Windows Audio Service is absent. Any idea how to replace it? My XP disk won't work due to it being pre SP1/2.
Everything worked fine. There were no changes made to hardware to cause this.

Problem resolved. I had (?) to go through Microsoft Tech Support and have them replace the lost Service. Thanks anyway.
