    Hi,

I am upgrading a PC's memory and am unsure as to which memory to get. The existing memory is DDRII 512MB 533Mhz SLX264M8-T5C. I have found Crucial memory which has 184 pins and Kingston memory which has 240 pins. Both have all the same spec except the number of pins. What is the difference between 184 pin and 240 pin memory?

Thanks in advance for your help. You guys are great.

184-pin DIMM, used for DDR SDRAM
240-pin DIMM, used for DDR2 SDRAM, DDR3 SDRAM and FB-DIMM DRAM

So it depends upon what your mobo requires. DDR (older and more expensive)
    or
DDRII newer and used in most machines(0-4 yrs old) and lots cheaper.
