    To all:

I have a Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop. It is 3 years old. Last night, while typing, the key board went dead. It simple stopped recording any keystrokes on the screen and was unresponsive to any keys. I tried rebooting and that did not help. I uninstalled the driver, shut down, and reboot reloading the driver, and that did not help.

I suspect that this is a hardware malfunction. My question is - does this sound like something that is worth trying to fix? or am I looking at more money in repairs than the computer is worth?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.

With laptops getting moved about alot, the connectors to keyboard, LCD can become loose, so opeing it up is upto you but could be just as simple as a loose keyboard connector.

also you could run a normal keyboard from one of the USB/PS2 slots?

You might try take apart & clean, also clean flex cable & connector.

Thanks for the advice and links. I removed the keyboard and cable. Gentle blew air through the keys, reconnected the cable, and reassembled the cover and hinge screws. I fired it up and the keyboard now works. I do not know if I ever would have figured out how to get to keyboard out with out the link you posted.

    Thanks
