its a ibm thinkpad t41; it an older laptop but its been good to me. its started to drop connection only when using my wireless connection. if i run programs that dont require any network connection my wireless is fine. i've done malware scans on spybot, avg, spyware doctor, superantispyware, spyware terminator, a squared, and hijackthis and found nothing. i've updated all drivers and its still occuring. i've even resest my router/modem twice. my tower has no issues with connection. i've tried with and without my firewall( comodo) and no change. all software is current, and everything works fine. im baffled by this behavior and im wondering if my hardwares going to pot. any ideas?

Try a different channel on the router. You should have at least 11 choices.

do you use ibm's connection software? or the one in win xp? try doing either.

ok just tried that and remembered why i remembered why i removed the thinkvantage access connections program. so back to the windows connection software. i've even created a new profile/connection and no change. i'm baffled by this behavior. could it be caused by bad hardware? if so can i test? it "passes" all diagnostics
