I've been round and round with this for 2 days now and I'm very frustrated. I keep getting redirected in any browser and before I uninstalled it AVG was saying C:\windows\system32\services.exe was infected with a trojan. I followed the Vista & Windows 7 Malware Removal guide and it didn't help so here are my logs as requested. Also combofix won't make me a log and doesn't show the blue screen shown in the pictures.

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

Right then, can you zip up and attach the file for me?
Could you please get this: services.exe into a zipped file and attach it for me in your next post? To do this, see the below:

Please go to start > Run and paste in the following:
    log retrievable @ C:\collect.zip

    You forgot this bit.
Please also attach the OTM logs, don't post them inline like you have done. Thanks

I want you to uninstall AVG for now please. I feel it could be blocking our fixes.

    Now do this:

OK let us try OTM again.

    • Paste the following code under the [IMG] area. Do not include the word Code.

OK, let's replace the file and see what gives.

Now we need to use ComboFix by sUBs

    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Fcopy::
    C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-s..s-servicecontroller_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_2b54b20ee6fa07b1\services.exe | C:\windows\system32\services.exe
    File::
    C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_32\Desktop.ini
    C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_64\Desktop.ini

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

If after running Combofix you discover none of your programs will open up, and you recieve the following error: "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion". Then the answer is to REBOOT the machine, and all will be corrected.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

Ok I ran combofix as requested but it did not make a log, I even did a search for combofix.txt on the whole C drive and it came up with nothing. But here is the MGtools log. It did pop up the following error message during its log making:

    Nslookup.exe - ordinal not found
The ordinal 1108 could not be located in the dynamic link library wsock32.dll

And the computer is still redirecting.

We will have one more pop at this with a different tool. Then I shall have to seek advice.

Is services.exe still being flagged or not??

    Download OTL to your desktop.

    • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
    • Vista and Windows 7 users Right-click OTL and choose Run as Administrator)
    • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
    • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
    • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.

When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.

Attach both of these logs into your next reply.

[IMG] For 32-bit (x86) systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to a flash drive.

    • Then click the Run Fix button at the top.

Attached is fixlist.txt (at very end of my post.)
    • Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your flash drive.

    Now re-enter System Recovery Options.
Run FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (How to attach)

    Reboot normally.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let us know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

Well when running getlogs I got an error message, I took a screenshot of it. It also did not make a log this time.

    • Run FRST again like you did in post # 15. Attach the new log.
    • Reinstall avg.
    • Let me know if it still complains.
    • Run getlogs.bat again but this time just click OK on the HJT message, unless you did already.
