I have a Belkin KVM switch and it is REALLY hard to get it to actually switch active ports... the shortcut key strok is "Scroll lock + Scroll lock + *up arrow*" and I used to be able to get it after a few tries but lately I can't get it do switch AT ALL. Does anyone else have similar problems with their KVM switch's? And anyone who knows anything about the KVM switch.. care to offer some assistance? TIA!

I have the a similar problem with mine, only it switches on me when I don't want it to. It's also a belkin. I'm going to have to find another brand, because this is my second Belkin with the same problem..

I have the D-Link DKVM-2K, which is also a two-port and uses similar commands, but do not experience such problems. Sometimes (rarely) the mouse willl not work after switching ports, but a reset command-- ScrlLock-ScrlLock-M-- fixes it. The D-Link can often be had for around $10-12 after rebate-- check it out at sites like buy.com and newegg.com

or even the zonet 4 port (if you want something bigger) is decent. i've used one for a long time and it's never hiccupped for me. also can be found at newegg.

I have two Belkin KVM's both work great, two different models, one has manual switch besides the short cut keys.

Anyway When I first got the first one, I did have similar problem someone told me to just swap plugs, ya know flip flop, the PC"s.
I know sounds werid but the problem went away, doesnt make sense.

Depending on what you are doing you can access more than 1 computer with software:http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4514 or you can use remote desktop with XP Pro. I use remote desktop to control 6 other pc's that dont have monitors or keyboards .[IMG]

I would ditch it but this was an expensive one... damn circuit city  but when I get home I'll try switching the ports and see if that does anything... then contact circuit city about an exchange or something

Aside from exchanging or replacing with another brand.
Might try to disconnect it, reboot PC, power off, then reconnect KVM and reboot.
    Also can try another keyboard.
