    hi

Recently I noticed that i get choppy playback when i stream video in hd (Like on youtube) while using Firefox. During playback in HD the browser is unresponsive and takes a few moments for the browser to close. Quicktime videos in HD play fine while streaming. I tried playing the same videos in HD on Internet Explorer and it plays perfectly. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash but it doesn't make a difference. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling my AMD Radeon graphics drivers but that doesn't help. I just noticed now that even in 480p mode when playing videos on Youtube the playback is a little choppy. The problem is not there with videos I play on my harddrive like high def mkv's or blu-ray playback. And I also reinstalled and reinstalled K-Lite codec pack including the update pack. I have the latest version of Firefox btw. Can someone please help me? This is extremely annoying to deal with. Thanks in advance. :)

Hi, you may want to check and see if all your plug-ins are enabled.

In Firefox, "Tools" at the top, Options, uncheck "Use smooth scrolling" and check "Use hardware acceleration" if not checked. See if that helps.

i checked the plugins and they're all enabled. and i did what you said, Puppywunder58, but it still is choppy on 480p or high def. i have a feeling it's a flash related problem but i uninstalled and reinstalled it several times and there's still choppiness.

    hi falcon

i did everythin listed in that page. i used the uninstaller, deleted the folders and files manually, restarted the computer and checked the page to make sure that the movie didn't appear on the adobe page to make sure flash wasn't installed. i then installed the latest flash and the movie appeared and it said was working fine. then i went to youtube and played some videos and all of them had choppy movement on 480p, 720p, and 1080p. i really am getting annoyed at this and im beginning to lose hope. i really don't wanna have to format my computer, i did that a few months ago and it's a big pain to do everytime. i did installed a update to my AMD Radeon drivers recently. could that be related to this?

You have to inform about the specifications of your computer

    http://majorgeeks.com/download4181.html

    Go to

from the left side you must opt for menu
Summary ( wait 30 seconds until report is generated )
you have to select Report from bar menu
from sub menu Quick Report - Plain Text - opting for Desktop as saving location

follow this to attach the report

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=86880

perhaps if you completely uninstall the graphic driver and reinstall this again you solved your problem , be careful this method is the best

    http://majorgeeks.com/Driver_Sweeper_d6171.html

you must run it in normal mode
    restart your machine
you have to do the same thing in safe mode

    having a good result :wave

    hi falcon

i am attaching the report. i tried what you suggested regarding the graphics driver and used that app you suggested but all it did was screw up my computer's display after uninstalling the driver with that program. i followed your directions exactly and i had to do a system restore to get my display to look right again. but according to the installer for the graphics card i saw it said the amd components are up to date. it said that the other times too but i forgot to mention it. so i guess that's not whats making the video choppy.

    hi plodr

the status default interval for browser.sessionstore.interval was 15000. i changed it first to 600000. nothing changed in youtube. then i tried 120000. and that did nothing too. when i typed about:config and then in the filter entering "swf" it showed no results. so i couldn't change dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll & double click it to toggle it to false. i guess im missing something in firefox or flash?

    hi cipher

actually im a little hesistant about doing that if there's a security risk. cause i recently had a big security issue on my computer and i really don't wanna risk getting another security issue. hope that's ok. but i did take care of the security issue tho. but still im a bit hesistant. also i read some of that link you provided about removing user profile data and i think i'd like to do that as a last resort. cause it would be a major headache to redo everything from scratch afterwards. don't get me wrong cipher i do appreciate your advice i hope you don't take this the wrong way.

I understand your concerns about Flash security with a rollback, no offense taken I assure you. Like the article states, it is sometimes all you can do, these problems apparently have Adobe stumped in some cases as well. Same with the profile fix, although that doesn't present a security issue...

    hi guys.

really appreciate all the help you guys are giving me.

    @plodr

do you know why when i type swf in the filter box nothing comes up? if i get dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll toggled false that may solve the problem right?

    @GoldenSkull

i am using Windows 8 Pro
firefox version is 18.0 the version released yesterday.

    @cipher

im considering the profile fix now but can you tell me in detail what kinda security risks rolling back flash can bring? and will i have always have to use that version of flash with the risks involved? the security issue i had was related to banking online and i can't afford to let that happen again. please let me know.

thanks in advance for your replies everyone.

Ok to be able to disable plugin-container.exe there is away to disable it.

In the Filter Bar best idea is to type--->
    dom.ipc

Since you sorta know the About:config here is one option.

When you do the Filter in that white blank area you are going to have to add 4 extra items.

Right click in the white area and in the little box go to
New---> then click on Boolean to of these below.

    dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npctrl.dll
    dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npqtplugin.dll
    dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll
    dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.nptest.dll

You can copy and past in each one instead of typing them.Make sure they are all False there is one more that all so need's to be false.

dom.ipc.plugins.enabled <----This all so need's to be false. It should all ready be in there so double click on it.Add them first then below is another option needed for the latest.

    And there is another option.

    Click on Start>Control Panel>System Properties>Advanced>Environment Variables>System Variables> / New

Then add these.you can copy and past them
    Variable Name: MOZ_DISABLE_OOP_PLUGINS
    Variable Value: 1

These Below are from another site.

You can all so mess with some settings to speed up.
Set network.http.max-connections to 96 – This sets the total number of HTTP connections Firefox can make to a web server. The default value is 30 (raised for the previous default of 24), but if you have ample bandwidth, increase the number speed up the loading of multiple-tab bookmarks.
Set network.http.max-connections-per-server to 32 – The default is 15, but you can raise it to increase the number of connections made to a single server. This is useful if you’re planning on browsing a site while downloading many files from it at the same time.
Set network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server to 8 – Raising this setting from 6 to 8 improve performance when working through multiple pages of a site. We don’t recommend setting this value to anything higher than 8.
Set network.http.pipelining to true – Pipe lining is an application of the HTTP 1.1 protocol where multiple requests can be sent to a web server before any responses are received. Not all servers support it, but this will improve your browsing speed if you’re on a high-latency (slow) connection.
Set network.http.proxy.pipelining to true – Same as the setting above, but only applies if you’re using a proxy connection.
Set network.http.pipelining.ssl to true – If you’re encountering problems with pipe lining enabled, the root of the problem may be a broken proxy server sitting between you and the target server. SSL (secure) sites don’t have this problem, so this setting will let you turn on pipelining for those sites only, regardless of the other pipe lining settings.
Set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to 8 – With pipe lining enabled, this preference specifies the maximum number of requests to make to a server at once. Raising the default value from 4 to 8 will speed up your requests to a server, but will cause a small delay if one of the requests fail.

I know fire fox pretty good. There are stuff out there that will help with speed.

Here are some adons that will help with security.

I use these all the time there are links below.

Adblock Plus-->Works well on all most any thing.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/?src=ss

AdvertBan--->Blocks ads, popups, cookie trackers and spyware.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adban/

Flashblock--->Blocks Flash players like youtube But all you need to do is double click on video.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/flashblock/

Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus--->Another add on for ABP Fight the text ads
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/elemhidehelper/

This is extra below i use it often.

Ant Video Downloader -->With this you can download video from Youtube or any other streaming site.Side note Does not work on all sites.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloader-player/

Hope this helps.Oh and after you enter the Dom.Ipc items restart the browser.

The picture below is for the plugin.exe to show you what i mean.

The risks are various exploits used by "bad people with bad intent" that adobe generally characterizes as: These updates address vulnerabilities that could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system.

To see a list of Adobe security updates and links, see:

As far as online banking goes, there is a school of thought on that that suggests the use of a LiveCD for such transactions. One tech blogger wrote:

Yes, I admit that it’s a pain to shut down and reboot just to complete an online financial transaction but, I’d rather be safe than sorry – I’m into an ounce of prevention. Since the majority of malware is Windows specific, banking online through a Linux Live CD is my ounce of prevention.

I like this idea in that nothing is or can be written to my hard drive when surfing this way. The LiveCD will boot and most have a browser included. You will likely have to provide router security credentials each time. Another downside is that passwords and website URLs are not stored, you have to input them at each login as nothing is saved locally........ wait, that is an upside :)

Of course this does nothing to protect you from server side attacks at the bank, we all have to rely on the banks to take care of their own security. Another note is that you use the LiveCD for banking/shopping only. No social media, no email, nothing else...

You might run live cd for online banking thru a search engine and do some reading on this if you are so inclined...
