Acronis has been unable to help with this problem. I have two external MAXTOR hard drives. One is 40 GIG and can use either a USB2.0 connection or a FIREWIRE connection. It is formatted as NTFS. The second external hard drive is 80 GIG and can only be connected via USB2.0. Acronis 6.0 (latest build) works fine over the FIREWIRE to the 40 GIG drive, but fails with media errors on USB2.0. The 80 GIG drive also fails with media errors when attempting to backup the "C" drive to it. In addition to the FIREWIRE, Acronis works fine to the CD R/W drive. I thought my USB2.0 controller card was bad and bought a new one. The same condition occurs. My system information is below. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Thanks for any replies in advance.

    dbm, Welcome to MG!

This is no solution, but it might help you to know that if Acronis TI just won't work on your setup, the company is very good about refunding payment for the license. I bought version 6 and have used it (with NO failures) and loved it for over a year, but I bought 7 when it came out, and hated it from day one. I told them what I didn't like about it and asked for a refund, and they were very good about it and very prompt, too.

I re-installed version 6, build 350, and am still using it (with NO failures).

It's an unfortunate fact that you can do a Web search for info on any of the major imagers, and you'll find lots of users complaining that "it doesn't work for me," while others rave about it. If ATI doesn't do what you need it to, get another imager, and get your cash back from the company.
