Ok here's the story. I can't access the net with my iTouch. It keeps telling me that network is locked and that I need a password. I have followed every tutorial that I could find and I am still having no luck.

I have a NetComm NB6 DSL2 + Router and I cannot for the life of me find where I have to go to reset the password.

Can anyone help me? This is driving me nuts!!

    Thank you

    Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using?

The password (WEP or WPA PSK encryption key password) thats needed is the one that you would use for say a laptops WiFi to connect to the internet, do you know yours?

Do you have all the setup infromation, user name and passwords used for your internet service (DO NOT POST THEM ONLINE IN THIS THREAD PLEASE) all I'm asking is do you have them to hand, as if you do a reset (small hole in the back of the router between the middle two ethernet ports is the reset switch and use an opened paperclip to press it) you may have to re-enter all your info again

    a Quickguide manual is HERE

Well I have made the situation worse.... I did reset the router and now I have lost my ip address, subnet, default etc. I have no idea what my DNS server was (an IT specialist set up my computer for me and I cannot get in contact with him). He knows all the passwords etc.

I have managed to get the internet up and running and signed into my router there, but I can't get access to the Wi-Fi from my laptop and last night I got stuck on some wizard for the router that wanted me to input all the settings and now I have no idea how to get back into it.

I really should have just cursed the iTouch and left it at that :(

I have Windows XP with SP3.

At the moment I have set the DNS Server the same as default gateway and I'm pretty sure that that is incorrect. I am totally out of my element here. Looking at the notes I took before I am meant to have the IP address "Assigned by DCHP" so how on earth do I do that??

    Thanks for the help

  5. Right so is this a home network? with a home laptop/Pc that you a currently struggling with?

What version of Windows is the machine running?
Can you see the wireless when you search for wireless networks or not?
Is there just you that gets access to the internet via this router?

After answer some of these we should be able to offer you more assistance tailored for your situation :)

    Captain.

    Sorry for the late reply.

The main computer is a home network. I also have a laptop that was configured to the Wi-Fi but that no longer connects to the net or the Wi-Fi. This is the issue that I want to address now.

    [On the laptop]

When I go into control panel, network and internet connections, my network places the local area connection and the Wi-Fi both have red crosses on the icons.

Double clicking on the Wi-Fi icon brings up the "Choose a wireless network" menu. From there is all goes down hill. Nothing I do gets it to work.

    Are you able to help??

    Thank you

Also not sure if this helps but when I use the ipconfig command I get the following message:

Ethernet adapter wireless network connections: Media state.......: media disconnected
