I was having a problem with Firefox freezing and hanging. So I reset Firefox. Their help pages said we will save all your settings, bookmarks, etc. So I reset it. They then brought up a page on Firefox to say oops this is embarassing we've lost your stuff. That's not embarassing it's downright annoying. I feel like using stronger language but anticipate it could break forum rules.

A file has been created on my desktop called Old Firefox Data. Can anyone please guide me through this file (I'm assuming it's standard as Firefox automatically created it), its contents and how I can restore my bookmarks and, as they're most likely gone too, my add-ons. As for settings I shall just go through options and set firefox up again in the way I chose.

OK, so now I am having less bad thoughts about the people at Mozilla. All of a sudden, with no dialogue boxes popping up, no "error" messages, nothing done on my part, my bookmarks have now appeared in Firefox. Oh the wonderful mysteries of IT!

That happens to me sometimes, just to be sure you can make a back up of your firefox settings with mozbackup it is a pretty usefull utility when you have to make a re-install!!!;)
