I received this error msg trying to install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
    error 718 (-2146893798, 0)

I was trying to use the procedures given in this forum for cleaning a PC. I stopped the process after this error, until I can get a reply on what this means and should I just proceed to the next step of Combofix and MGtools. The error for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware never allowed me to use the program - even in Safe Mode. I did change the name to mb.exe. The previous steps have not yielded much except Spy bot did find 19 items which I cleaned using your directions. SuperAntiSpyware did not find anything.

    Thanks for you help.

    My PC specs are:
    XP Home SP3
    ZoneAlarm free 7.0.483.000
    AVG free ver 8.0.138
    Firefox 2.0.0.16 (primary)
    IE 7.0.5730.11 (use occasionally)

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

What malware problems were you actually having that cause you to run the cleaning procedures to begin with. Perhaps if nothing is showing up, you don't have malware problems.

You can continue on with ComboFix and MGtools anyway if you believe you have malware problems.

    Thank you

During a recent scan with AVG, it found a Trojan, Dropper.Agent.JOC. Usually it finds cookies or nothing. I just wanted to make sure.

Where was it found? Was it removed successfully?

I've since deleted the entries, but yes it was removed. There were about 4-5 occurrences stored in various areas. I still have one more of your procedures to run, MGtools.exe.

One more question. I mentioned that I received an error msg trying to run Malwarebytes Anti-malware. I listed it in my first post in this thread. When time permits will someone address that?

It doubt this is a malware problem. More likley it is some kind of problem within your Window OS that is occurring when you try to install MBAM. Did you rename the installation file to mb.exe as requested? Did you try running it in safe boot mode.
