i have a dell dimension 4300 and on mine the sticker says window 2000 professional cpu 1-2.im trying to get it repaired i dont have any cds thats what i need the cds. i contacted alot of people but they couldnt help. i even contacted dell

 

Look on ebay, or, put in an ' item wanted' on ebay, might be your only chance, as its discontinued software.

So it could take XP, IF YOU CANNOT GET A CD.

 

Support for windows 2000 will end this month, July 13th 2010 so after that you will be running an OS that will no longer get security patches.
I have several computers running 2K and I intend to pull them off the internet.
It might not be worth the money to fix a computer running an insecure OS.

 

Burn a Linux Mint cd or Ubuntu cd and run with that.
That computer is getting pretty dated, and may not have enough Horse Power to work with xp.

 

I have seen XP run on 256mb ram, so it hould be able to run it, without a problem as its also P4, might not be very quick, but depends on what it is needed for.
