    Hello all,

I just purchased a Sony Vaio S260 laptop and when I flip on the wireless it connects no problem and when I open IE it opens the home page fine and i can even refresh and go to maybe 1 more page but then it just stops going. The wireless indicator still says I have an excellent connection but IE wont go anywhere and AIM disconnects soon after. Its not an ISP issue because my other laptop (with wireless) is running just fine (I'm tpying this on it). I uninstalled Norton Internet Security thinking maybe that had something to do it with it but that didnt help. Any suggestions? Thanks

Ok, update. It works fine when plugged in so there has to be some correlation between running on battery power and the internet. Any ideas?

What kind of wireless card on the laptop, and what kind of access point or wireless router is it trying to connect through?

Im no expert, but it sounds like the settings for "power Save" mode is short. I believe on battery power some Laptops shut down processes if feels it does not need to stay up. Check your power settings. This is just a guess.

    Two things.

What program are you using to find wireless networks? The software that comes with the card or xp wireless zero config?

Also, have you tried updating the drivers for your wireless card?

The card is built in so so I'm using the default windows networking software to find the network. I will try updating the drivers. I also noticed you are a fellow Spring resident!
