Hi all, please help--I can't figure out what I'm missing..
    I'm running Windows XP Home, SP3 & I've run 'regsvr32 /i shell32.dll' yet I'm having the following symptom:
Upon opening any folder / my computer, the "Folders" button (Tree View) is on. If I click any folder or drive it opens fine in the same window, however, if I close Tree View (I prefer having the common tasks panel), and then open a folder / drive it opens in a new window. Please help!!

This started with a larger problem where I had this same symptom & could not change any folder options.
All indications pointed to me having this virus -> Threat Expert: Win32/Taterf.B (I had the exact same registry keys + files in each drive's root directory). After removing the said files & registry keys, I can finally change my folder options without them reverting back.

Can't seem to delete this message--I solved my own issue by reversing the process described here

Default option for folders = open instead of explore.
