    Hello,

I have two computers attached to a router. There's also a broadband modem connected to the router. Both my pc's can access the internet. PC1 can access all the shared folders on PC2, but PC2 can't access any on PC1. Both PC's are part of the same workgroup and show up in the workgroup computers list. When I doubleclick PC1s computername on PC2 it get "\\PC1 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource..."
I ran the network setup wizard several times on both PC's, changed my PC1's computername 3 times (now all 3 computernames and their shares are showing up in my network places of PC1, not on PC2, there only the current PC1 computername is visible, but no shares in PC2 network places). I also checked my firewalls, but they allow all home network traffic.
And everything used to work fine. Dunno what happened...

Any idea's on how to clean up this mess?

    Thanks,
    V

Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings,http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is allowed to be shared.

    Basic XP - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/filesharing.mspx

    Advanced XP - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;304040

After trying everything, it seems to be a master browser problem.
Event viewer gave me this error message:

"The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer MYM700 that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcpip_{80C1C883-EE40-41F6-A9. The master browser is stopping or an election is being forced."

But, how do I solve this...and what caused this to happen?

After losing an entire day on this thing, I finally found it:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913628

Why was this value changed? I sure never changed it.
Why do I never, ever have these kinds (or any kind for that matter) of problems on my Mac?
    It's a mystery...

    Looking on the 'net, ha!!
I can't see or think of a simple search word or phrase here that would direct you to his other forum post.
Ha, more likely you are also a traitor and use that forum also, and spotted his duplicate post?!
