    Hello all.
I am hoping I can get some help with a program I downloaded recommended by Blizzard to remove a Trojan horse I some how got over the weekend. The virus supposedly would steel my Warcraft password and then my gold. I downloaded the recomended program called FixWareout. It ran it's thing, rebooted the computer, and then a window popped up saying something along the lines of "If you have trouble getting back onto the internet go into the normal c:/ and double click a registry key it left in C." Of course I had trouble getting on, followed the instructions and it didn't work. I could not get back on to the web. It seems this program not only removed the virus but also removed my ability to get on line. I ran the program again just so I can see the window that popped up when the computer restarted. I wanted to make sure I did it right. I did, I clicked it again and still nothing. So NOW, in my infinite wisdom, I performed a system restore. Went back two weeks and restored my computer. After doing that I STILL havel no way to get on the web only NOW I can no longer find the program and the registry key thingy is no longer on my c:/ drive. I can't even get online to get the program to try to fix it. Can anyone advise? It seems this program not only removed the virus but my ability to get on line. I am online at work.

    Welcome to MajorGeeks.com!

If you can't get online then you are going to have to download the tools/programs from the READ ME and transfer them via CD, USB, etc.. Do as much of the below as you can and attach the requested logs and we will go from there.

[IMG] Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
[IMG] Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

[IMG]After doing ALL of the above and you still have a problem, make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below thread to properly use HijackThis and attach the log:

[IMG] Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis
    • Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around..
[IMG]When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
    • CounterSpy
    • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
    • Bitdefender - from step 6
    • Panda Scan - from step 6
    • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
    • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
    • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!
