    Hello

Recently I have found that my internet pages seem to be slower in loading I am running interent explorer 7 on a windows xp pro system. I have run spyware terminator which only found tracking cookies, I have also run AVG which said the system was clean.

I was justwondering whether someone could check my Hijack this Log to see if they can see anything untoward

Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.0 (BETA)

    Hi mc_eng2002,

Do you have the pfishing filter turned on in Internet Explorer? This takes up a lot of resources and causes a serious lag in IE7.

Have you tried an alternate browser like Mozilla Firefox? This can be downloaded by going to www.majorgeeks.com and clicking on the Browser button in the list of software on the left side of the page. When the page of browsers opens up, Mozilla Firefox is at the top of the list.

    Please do the following:

    1) Open your Windows Live Messenger, go to Help -> Customer Experience Improvement Program and turn it off. That will stop you getting all those sqm files.

    2) Go to add/remove programs and uninstall the below:

    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10"
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11"
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 4"
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6"
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9"
    Java(TM) 6 Update 2"
    Java(TM) 6 Update 3"
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

    3) Reboot after uninstalling the above.

    4) Install the current version of Sun Java from:

    Sun Java Runtime Environment

    5) If you do not use Windows Messenger (not to be confused with MSN Messenger!!) I would like you to run
    Disable/Remove Windows Messenger

    6) Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK

FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\jusched.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
    O4 - Startup: Broadband.lnk = ?

Do you recognize the following 015 entry? If not, please fix it.

    O15 - Trusted Zone: *.registration.sonystyle-europe.com (HKLM)

Do the following belong to programs you know or want to keep? If not, please fix them as well.

    O16 - DPF: {26CBF141-7D0F-46E1-AA06-718958B6E4D2} -
    http://download.ebay.com/turbo_lister/UK/install.cab
    O16 - DPF: {402EE96E-2CE8-482D-ADA5-CECEEA07E16D} (TurnTool Scene) -
    http://www.turntool.com/ViewerInstall.exe
    O16 - DPF: {7248D322-5A12-46E6-88F5-4D52551A888B} (VMPlayer Class) -
    http://www.bca-online-auctions.co.uk/vWebPlayer.cab
    O16 - DPF: {917623D1-D8E5-11D2-BE8B-00104B06BDE3} (CamImage Class) -
    http://85.118.173.242/activex/AxisCamControl.cab
    O16 - DPF: {A18962F6-E6ED-40B1-97C9-1FB36F38BFA8} (Aurigma Image Uploader 3.5 Control) -
    http://www.autoedit.co.uk/ImageUploader3.cab

After you click fix, just close hijackthis.

    7) Now please run CCleaner at the default setting with the Windows tab as the one on top.

    8) Please run C:\MGTools.exe again (located under C:\ ) and attach a fresh MGlogs.zip.

Let me know how things are running now?

    Hi Abri

Thanks for the quick response I have done all the steps which you detailed below.

I think the webpages are still a little slow. I was just wondering whether this could have something to do with the problem

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=148757

This was a problem that developed on my system a few weeks ago but it was only on yahoo so no major issues more of a niggle.

But the last few days I have struggled getting onto ebay etc I have also noticed that occasionally the web pages fail to display images (just a white square with a red cross).

I have attached the new mglogs file for your attention

    Many Thanks

    Hi mc_eng2002,

Since the problem you're having is with Internet Explorer, my first thought would be that it could be associated with a recent Windows update. What you could do is go back and try an earlier restore point from before these problems occured. If you've never done this before, Go to Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore
check the box to Restore my computer to an earlier time and click on Next. You'll see a calander with highlighted dates. Choose one of the dates just preceeding these problems and allow your system to return to that date. See if the problem goes away.

Also, to see if it might be a problem with the websites you are visiting, try another browser. If you go to www.majorgeeks.com you'll find a downloads site. On the left are a lot of buttons of which one of them is Browsers. Click on that and at the top of the page is the download button for Mozilla Firefox. See if that works for the websites which have been giving you trouble.
