I HAD RECOVERED FROM AN EARLIER CRASH today BY RESTARTING

Note what the error said " A recent hardware/software change might be the cause." If MS doesn't specify, we can't guess either. So it is hardware or software.

I cannot get the screws off. they are small and pitted and I cant see.
Is there always a way to get screws off or I am fit for the junk yard?

Crapware of any variety will never fix a hardware problem - hardware trumps software each and every time.

Find someone local with a good set of tools suited to the task, they should be able to help you out.
