I recently purchase a used Sony MZ-S1 minidisc recorder as well as a Sony MZ-N420D minidisc recorder. Though my Device Manager is aware the units may be plugged in via USB I cannot get any other sign that my computer recognizes their presence. I have tried many web sites, including Sony, looking for a driver. I have installed everything Sony said to try, including SonicStage and OpenMG Jukebox, with no luck. These claim to have installed a driver but none of the programs see the recorder. I have been searching forums, which I admit I to be new at, only to keep finding others with the same problem. I currently run Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (64 bit). Any ideas?

Here is the Vista driver for the MZ-N420D but no mention is make of 64bit. It looks like the same driver is used for the Sony MZ-S1

Tried it but nothing has changed. I'll try buying Windows 7 and see if it helps.

Before you do that, I would contact sony and see if they are still supported in Windows 7.
