Windows Media Player will not work on my PC. I've no error messages to give. Absolutely nothing at all happens. My PC is an Acer Aspire 5920 laptop running Windows Vista HP SP2. I've tried opening Windows Media Player in the following four ways:

    1. I've downloaded a TV programme from the BBC to watch in the format as a wmv file and I've right clicked on it and selected from the menu: Play with Windows Media Player.
    2. Because nothing happened in no. 1 (above) I clicked on Start>All Programs>Windows Media Player. Nothing happened so I tried no. 3 (below).
    3. I clicked on Start>All Programs and right clicked on Windows Media Player and selected: Run as administrator. The User Account Control box opened and I clicked on Continue. Nothing happened.
    4. In a final attempt I clicked on Start>Computer>C (my hard drive)>Program Files>Windows Media Player and then clicked an wmplayer the application itself.

Nothing at all happens. I receive no error message whatsoever. What could be the problem? How might I solve it?

My version of Windows Media Player is version 11.
